the fact that the people who are against the term transandrophobia call the people who talk about it “transandrophobia truthers” is so deeply uncomfortable to me like
could you have at least picked a less loaded term than “truther” and all of it’s baggage with antisemitic conspiracy theories - like - even just a little less loaded
there’s a desperate need to portray trans men as oppressors - painting the very idea of trans men talking about their oppression as being as bad as a cishet misogynistic MRA or an antisemitic radio host like Alex Jones going on a rant
it’s meant to put trans men, trans mascs, and anyone who is in community with them on par with bigots and oppressors who do real harm to marginalized people, but also exposes how little care they have for the harm actual MRAs and right-wing conspiracy theorists do. If you actually gave a shit about antisemitism or misogyny in any real meaningful way you wouldn’t devalue that harm by comparing it to trans men saying they experience oppression for being trans men
“average person eats 3 spiders a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

how does this post not have a million notes but anyone online can quote it
Something I love about Hadestown is the appreciation for low notes. Both male and female roles get a fair number of low tunes to sing. Broadway now has a tendency to prize these powerful high notes that can be gorgeous to listen to, but sometimes can appear too many times in one musical. Hadestown not only is more balanced in this way, but also makes the low notes sound as impressive and skillful as the higher ones. The show just seems to relish those melodies and I am living for it.
Ok I don’t mean to be doing this too often but I literally just wrote a paper about this so I thought I would comment! The English translation is The Cursed Woman but the original French is La Femme Damnée. “Femmes Damnées” was the title of a Baudelaire poem from his acclaimed 1857 book Fleurs du mal, which was known, among other things, to be a collection that famously dealt with the subject of lesbians. The poem tells the story of the desires and passionate love between two lesbians: Delphine and Hippolyte. As a result of this poem and of the book as a whole, the terms “fleurs du mal” and “femme damnée” became lesbian monikers of the turn of the century. Though some have deemed the term “damned women” to be accusatory of some moral dissonance, the poem it is derived from is actually quite sympathetic to the condition of lesbian love as it is a love which is unable to fully flourish in that time. Regardless, the translated title of Tassaert’s painting is misleading, as the original French is less accusatory and more identifying. The title is more accurately “the lesbian.”
I have had it with this likescolding. “Tumblr doesn’t have an algorithm so likes don’t actually do anything” motherfucker I am not clicking that heart to give some post better ~algorithmic visibility~ I am clicking that heart to help my internet friend microdose on serotonin as god fucking intended
The reason people get upset about the like to reblog ratio is because it is killing the site. This site only works if people reblog stuff to keep it circulating. Once upon a time the like to reblog ratio was fairly even, nowadays every post has a ratio of like 4:1 minimum and its depressing because it means posts arent being circulated and tumblr is losing what made it great.
People arent bitching because they want clout, there is no fucking clout on tumblr this isnt twitter or instagram! I wanna see shit on my dash for the things I love and I can only find that shit if the people I follow reblog that shit from other people who I havent discovered yet.
In my current fandom, I still regularly have to go hunting through the character tags just to find stuff to fill up my queue, and most of it is art or gifsets that have around 200 likes but only 10 reblogs. It fucking sucks. I am following so many people who also post about my fandom and yet this stuff remains unnoticed because people are allergic to reblogging things nowadays, because y'all are all so used to the twitter/insta method of likes being the be all and end all to boost some algorithm. How many times do we have to scream there is no tumblr algorithm before y'all understand?!?
Likes have a use, they are a good way to save a post, or to remind you that youve reblogged or queued a post already. I use likes that way. I only ever like stuff to reblog or queue it. My own like to reblog ratio is 1:1 minimum and if I find a post ive previously reblogged (because ive already liked it) sometimes I’ll queue it up again because this site only works if we keep stuff in circulation.
“I wish I could like stuff more than once” thats called a reblog darling if you like a post that much reblog it!!!
So please quit bitching at longer term tumblr users begging newbies to reblog stuff, its necessary if you want the site to function, otherwise y'all will be staring at an empty dash since none of you ever reblogs shit.
y'all, the OP on the Barbie breakup headlines post going around right now is a TERF. Please, I beg you, go into your preferences and blacklist common TERF tags like ‘terfs please interact’ and 'radfem safe’ so you are less likely to platform TERFs. :/
Since I posted this, I’ve seen one that was reposted by someone as annoyed by the TERF as I was.
But listen, this is a good time to update your filtered tags! Filtered tags a) work on desktop and mobile b) aren’t reliant on an outside service like Shinigami Eyes c) trigger on tags the OP and/or the current reblogger put on.
From mobile:
Your blog > cog icon > Account Settings > Content You See
From desktop:
Hamburger menu on the top left > Settings > Account > Filtered tags
Then add some common tags used by shitty people for their shitty ideas!
ALT
This will screen these tags and make it so you have to actively tap/click to look at the post and thus warn you if OP has tagged the post with one of those things.
I have a bunch of dogwhistle stuff tagged, not just TERF stuff, but it’s a good way to avoid accidentally platforming people who hate my family. :)
… n-no. Absolutely not.
That is a bad idea, actually. Getting rid of those tags without getting rid of the TERFs – which they seem either unwilling or unable to do (considering they can’t even get rid of garden-variety creepers) – just removes people’s ability to choose to keep themselves away from TERFs.
If you want to leave social media bc it isn’t doing anything for you, fine. Sure. I genuinely don’t blame you. But don’t advocate for the removal of tools that trans people are using to protect ourselves from people who want us excluded from society at best and dead at worst.
